The central part of the Masoala Peninsula is the largest remaining area of rainforest in Madagascar. We spent several days on the west slope and ridge of the Masoala Peninsula. Walking up the Ambanizana River for several hours, we turned east and uphill to camp at about 600m (2000 ft) elevation.
