Thamnium subserratum (Hook.f.) Besch. ==
Thamnobryum subserratum fide Tan 1989: 43.
[Thamnium subserratum was reported from Thailand as T. subseriatum by Touw (1968: 233) and Tixier (1971: 136). They clearly made a typographical error by misspelled the species name. The error can be verified by their citations of the authority for the species as Thamnium subseriatum (Hook.f.) Besch. Noguchi & Iwatsuki (1972: 470) made the same typographical error when they transferred it to the genus Thamnobryum. It was spelled as Thamnobryum subseriatum (Hook.) Nog. & Iwats. They even misspelled the basionym, Neckera subserrata Hook.f. as N. subseriata Hook.f. The nomenclatural confusions surrounding Thamnium subserratum has been clarified by Tan (1989)].

T. kuripanum (Dozy & Molk.) Watanabe
[Touw & Falter-van den Haak (1989: 10) has discussed the confusion between Thuidium kuripanum, T. meyenianum, and T. plumulosum. According to them, some of the specimens under T. meyenianum from Asia may belong to T. kuripanum, but the type of T. meyenianum is identical to T. plumulosum. The authors indicated that they had seen collections of T. kuripanum from Thailand, but they did not cite any of them. Watanabe (1991: 40) also listed this species from Thailand in the species distribution, but no specimen was listed].

T. humilis var. flagelliferus (Herz.) Miller
[Tan & Iwatsuki's (1993) annotation citing "Trachypus humilis var. flagellifer (Broth. ex Herz.) Miller in Touw, comb. inval. lacking basionym citation" is incorrect and groundless. Miller (1967) validly published the new combination, T. humilis var. flagellifer (Broth. ex Herz.) Miller. However, the name was not published in Touw's paper as indicated by Tan & Iwatsuki (1993). Touw (1968) reported the taxon from Thailand later. Miller's new combination is considered valid because T. humilis var. tenerrimus (Herz.) Zant. made by Zanten (1959) is nomenclaturally illegitate. When Zanten (1959) made his new combination by reducing T. tenerrimus to the variety level under T. humilis, there already existed a varietal epithet, T. tenerrimus var. flagelliferus Broth. ex Herz. (Herzog 1910), which was available for use. Therefore, T. humilis var. tenerrimus (Broth. ex Herz.) Zant. is superfluous].

[Dixon (1932: 16) reported this species from Thailand. Wijk et al. (1969) incorrectly cited Trichostomum stenophyllum (Mitt.) Broth. as a "hom. illeg.". Therefore, Tixier (1971: 119) considered the specimens from Thailand, Didymodon tophaceus (Brid.) Lisa. Tan & Iwatsuki (1993: 393) followed Tixier's (1971) treatment. In fact, Trichostomum stenophyllum (Mitt.) Broth. is a valid name. The nomenclatural confusions surrounding this taxon have been clearified by Townsend (1983)].
