However, Holomitrium vaginatum should be treated as a synonym of H. cylindraceum because its basionym, Trichostimum vaginatum Hook. (1818) was published after Cecalyphum cylindraceum P. Beauv. (1805), the basionym of Holomitrium cylindraceum].
