Rainforest rice paddy

The first human settlers to Madagascar found a land of animals never hunted by people or any other large predator, forests uncut and a landscape never grazed by cattle. These people brought iron tools and weapons - no stone age culture is known from Madagascar. Later rice agriculture was introduced.
