Training

Training for the students on the NSF-PEET project in Systematic Bryology, at Missouri Botanical Garden, involves the participation in field trips, the attendance of scientific meetings including the presentation of papers at these meetings, the selection of University courses to supplement each particular students needs, the development of the molecular aspects of both the individual projects and NSF-PEET project on Pilotrichella, the development of the webpages and the completion of other special training orientated projects.

Student Projects

As part of the training experience for the NSF-PEET project the students selected the genera for their own thesis projects. They developed their project proposals and are responsible for the management of their work. The two Ph.D. graduate students were assigned a small genus to revise as a training exercise in preparation for the larger revisions they were to undertake for their thesis work. The students are also involved in the Pilotrichella monographic process.
