The Cutting Edge

Volume XXVIII, Number 3, July 2021

News and Notes | Leaps and Bounds | Germane Literature | Season's Pick | Annotate your copy | Global Range Extensions

ASTERACEAE.  According to Witt et al. [2019; Bothalia 49(1, a2356): 1–11], Tithonia tubaeformis (Jacq.) Cass. is adventive in S Áfr.

CYPERACEAE.  Add "SE EUA" to the range of Eleocharis mutata (L.) Roem. & Schult. (Angelo et al., 2020; J. Bot. Res. Inst. Texas 14: 405–410).

SCROPHULARIACEAE (or PLANTAGINACEAE, in modern parlance).  Bacopa egensis (Poepp.) Pennell can now be reported from "S Méx. (Tab.)" (Gonzalez-Socoloske et al., 2020; J. Bot. Res. Inst. Texas 14: 395–403).

URTICACEAE.  Jeomol & Sunojkumar (2020; Rheedea 30: 299–306) document the weedy Pilea hyalina Fenzl as introduced in India, and cite second-hand reports of similar occurrences in Hawaii and Belgium.

ERRATUM

In our last issue, we stated (see under "Dauphin López," in "Germane Literature") that the expanded second edition of our friend Gregorio Dauphin's landmark biography of Adolphe Tonduz "can be purchased at the entrance of the Museo Nacional for ₡8000."  Gregorio informs us that that information (which we had obtained from the Museo's own Web site) is obsolete and incorrect; it actually applies to the first edition of the book, which sold out and is no longer available anywhere.  The Museo Nacional was not involved in the publication of the second edition, hence are not offering it for sale.  Gregorio advises that the new edition can be purchased from the publishers (TEC or  UNA) @ ₡10,000, or from him directly (gregoriodauphin@hotmail.com) @ ₡15,000 (signed and dedicated!).
