Her beauty is due to a great extent to her elegant stipules. We thank our colleague and current rhamnophile Amy Pool (MO) for clarifying the nomenclature and taxonomy of this species (and others in the family), as well as for pointing out the usefulness of stipule morphology—historically overlooked—in the taxonomy of Rhamnaceae.  Photos by B.
