Madagascar has has an incredible variety of frogs, but it has no other amphibians. Over 150 species of frogs have been described, and that number may soon rise to 250. This fauna is thoroughly unique in that all but two of the species are endemic (found nowhere else but Madagascar). Of the two non-endemic species, one is known to have been brought from Asia by people. The other is considered to be the same species as is found in southern Africa, but the calls are not identical.
