Over 90% of Madagascar's reptile species are endemic. There are more than 60 species of snakes, none of them dangerous. This circumstance adds greatly to the comfort of both snake watching and nighttime bush walking. Shown here is one of the common and widespread species hunting in gallery forest along the Mananara River in the spiny desert region.
