A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
vo or Vo (preceded by the number 8): octavo; 8vo or 8* [i.e. eight with an ‘oh’ superscript; folium (s.n.II) octavum, abl.sg. folio octavo, “a size of book page that results from folding each printed sheet into eight leaves (sixteen pages); “a book of octavo size” (Dictionary.com ‘octavo’ Mar. 2020). Size, about 8 to 10 inches (200 to 500 millimeters) tall (Wikipedia, ‘octavo’ Mar. 2020).

NOTE: ‘vo,’ preceeded by an eight does not refer to the number of volumes. See volume.
