A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
viridans,-antis (part.B): [> L. virido,-are, 1.: “to make green, cause to grow green; neutr., in the part. pres.: growing green, green, verdant (Lewis & Short);

- [Conium maculatum] Folia inferiora maxima, , obscure viridantia, multifariam pinnata (Desf.) lower leaves the largest, indistinctly green-growing, pinnate in many ranks.

- gramen capillatum paniculis rubentibus et viridantibus (Desf.), a grass provided with fine hairs, with the panicles reddish or green.

- folia mire ludunt, junior cordata, obtusa, pubescentia et viridantia profert (Desf.), the leaves vary astonishingly, the younger comes out cordate, obtuse, pubescent.

- folia integerrima, glabra, lanceolata, laete viridantia (Desf.), leaves completely entire, glabrous, lanceolate, a lively green.

- folia media et superiora ovato - oblonga seu lanceolata, utrinque viridantia (Desf.), the middle and upper leaves obate-oblong or laneolate, green on both sides.

- folia opposita, breviter petiolata, parva, ovata aut ovato-rotundata, superne viridantia, glabra vel pubescenitia, quandoque amoene purpurea, inferne tomentosa, candida (Desf.), leaves opposite, shortly petiolate, small, ovate or ovate-rounded, above green, glabrous or pubescent, sometimes a lovely purple, below [i.e. on the underside] tomentose, a pure white.
