A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
verdigris (H.C.C. 6.55), verdigris-colored, a green or bluish deposit esp. of copper carbonates formed on copper, brass or bronze surfaces; “verdigris green - deep green, with a mixture of blue” (Lindley); cf. patina,-ae (s.f.I); ‘verdigris green’ is a yellowish green [> Old French: vert green + de 'of' Grice, from L. Graecia, ‘the green of Greece']: aerugineus, -a,-um (adj.A), aeruginosus,-a,-um (adj.A) “having the characteristics of the color of verdigris” (WIII); cf. patina,-ae (s.f.I).

Aerugo,-inis (s.f.III), abl. sg. aerugine: “the rust of a metal and esp. brass or copper, = verdigris, q.v.” (WIII).
