A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
venenatus,-a,-um (adj.A): poisoned, poisonous, q.v. [> L. venenum,-i, (s.n.II), abl.sg. veneno];

- fungus crudus venenatus, costus esculentus, fungus when raw poisonous, when cooked edible (Stearn).

- [Jacquinia]arbor baccifera, laurifolia, fructu corallino ribum instar racemoso calyculato venenato (Swartz), a tree bearing berries, with the leaves of Laurus, with the fruit coral red, resembling Ribes [gen. pl.], full of racemes, calyculate, poisonous.

- [MARANTA arundinacea]. Anglis vulgo “Arrowroot.” Apud Indianos in usu esse fertur, contusa, videlicet vulneribus ex sagittis venenatis admota (Swartz), with the English commonly [called] “Arrowroot.” By the [West] Indians it is reported to be in use [i.e. their practise or custom], namely ground, applied to wounds from poisoned arrows.

Galerina venenata, a deadly poisonous mushroom, as is Tricholoma venenata.
