A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

Valor,-oris (s.m.III), abl. sg. valore: value, worth; validity [> L. valere, to be strong, be worthy].

- in multis et praecipue physiologicis, ut de structura et formatione partium, de functionibus et valore organorum fructificationis, ab idaeis diu receptis saepe recedi (Agardh), in many respects and expecially physiological ones [physiological], as regarding the structure and formation of parts, regarding the functions and value of the organs or fructification, to depart from ideas long held.

- praeterea fructus in speciebus variis indeterminatis characteres valoris subgenerici paebet (B&H), also the fruit in various undefined species display characters of subgeneric value.

- genus Camelinae affine, sed differt conspicuo valvis siliquae non apice productis nec margine planis, et charactere abnormi (minimi valoris exemplaribus cultis non constante) siliquae 4-valvis (B&H), the genus related to Camelina, but it differs conspicuously by the valves of the siliqua not prolonged at the apex nor flat at the margin, and by the abnormal character (not considering cultivated specimens of the smallest value) of the 4-valved siliqua.

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
