A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

v.g., also v.gr.: verbi gratia, ‘for example, for the sake of example, for instance;’ also verbi causa [verbi = gen.sg., gratia and cause = abl.sg. (Lewis & Short)]; see gratia,-ae (s.f.I);

- provenit locis sicciusculis gramineis vel herbosis passim (v. g. Polshruch in arvo derelicto (S&A), turning up in somewhat dry, grassy or heraceous [places] (v.g. [= verbi gratia, ‘for example’] Polsbruch in an abandoned field).

- nascitur inter folia putrida etc. in sylvis mixtis, apprime montosis, hinc illinc (v. g. Duberau; Moholzer Haide passim; Arnsdorfer Berge; Sohlander Berg). Septembri et seqq. in Decembrem usque (S&A), it arises here and there among rotted leaves etc. in mixed woods, expecially montain (for example widespread in the Duberau; Moholzer Haide; the Arnsdorfer Berge; Sohlander Berg) in September and the following [sc. months] up to December.

- [fungi] Praeamare videtur scapos foliaque plantarum Liliacearum exaridarum, v. c. Hemerocallidis fulvae , Croci etc. quibus frequens innascitur hortensis: attamen aliosque haec species copiose saepe occupant caules siccos deciduos, v. g. Sphondylii, Solani tuberosi (S&A), it seems to love above all the scapes and leaves of dried up Liliaceous plants, [I have seen it grown] [the leaves] of Hemerocallis fulva, Crocus, etc., on which it commonly arises in gardens: [and that although] it often also these species also often abundantly ccupy other dry deciduous stems, for example, of Sphondylium, Solanum tuberosum.

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
