A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
Tubule; tubi, tubuli, a small tube; “the pores of certain Fungals” (Lindley); “1. the pores or hymeneal tubes of some Hymenomycetous Fungi, as Polyporus; 2. in Pyrenomycetes, the prolonged apex of perithecium pierced by a canal, the same as neck” (Jackson); (fungi) “a term formerly used for the neck of the perithecium in Pyrenomycetes, and for ‘pore’ in Hymenomycetes” (S&D): tubulus,-i (s.m.II), abl.sg. tubulo [> L. dim. tubus,-i (s.m.II), q.v.]; see tube;

- tubuli ad stipitem decurrens flavi, tubules on to the stipe decurrent yellow.

- caro ad tubulos purpurea, flesh at the tubules purple (Stearn).

- [alga] tubuli transversales brevissimi dimidium diametri filorum longitudine & latitudine aequantes (Agardh), the transverse tubules very short, equalling half of the diameter of the filaments in length and width.
