Thread: fibra,-ae (s.f.I), a fiber; filamentum,-i (s.n.II), abl. sg. filamento, nom. & acc. pl. filamenta, dat. & abl. pl. filamentis filum-i (s.n.II), abl.sg. filo, nom. & acc. pl. fila, dat. & abl.pl. filis; linea,-ae (s.f.I), abl. sg. linea ‘a thread of linen, a string, line;’ -nema,-atis (s.n.III), q.v., abl. sg. -nemate: in Gk. comp. thread; see hair; see filament, rope, strand.

NOTE: see funiculus,-i (s.m.II): in Cyathus, the Bird’s Nest fungi, “the peridiola are fixed to the peridium by threads (funiculi)” (Ainsworth & Bisby).
thread-like: filiformis,-e (adj.B); filamentosus,-a,-um (adj.A), filamentous; capillaceus,-a,-um (adj.A), capillaris,-e (adj.B), capilliformis,-e (adj.B); cf. scolecoideus,-a,-um (adj.A), scolecoid, resembling a worm or scolex; long and thread- or worm-like; see filamentous; see hairy.

setuliformis,-e (adj.B): shaped like a minute bristle; “thread-like” (Jackson).
thread-like:

In L. comp. fil-, fili-;

- filiculmis,-e, with thread-like culms, filifolius, with thread-like leaves, filiformis,-e, tread-shaped, filipes,-pedis, with thread-like pedicels.

In Gk. comp. -nema,-atis (s.n.III); nemato-;

- chloronema,-atis (s.n.III), abl.sg. chloronemate, with green threads; protonema,-atis (s.n.III): first threads.

- nematodontus, with thread-like teeth, or peristome; nematospadix, with thread-like spadix.
