A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
thalass-, thalasso-: in Gk. comp. the sea, the ocean [> Gk. thalassa (s.f.I), the sea > thalassios,-a,-on (Gk.adj.), of, in or on the sea, belonging to it; L. marinus,-a,-um (adj.A); see marine;

- thalassophilus,-a,-um (adj.A): marine, sea-loving, sea-dwelling.

- thalassophyton,-i (s.n.II), abl. sg. thalassophyto, a sea-plant, thalassophyte; “a marine Alga” (Jackson); (in pl.: thalassophyta,-orum (pl.n.II) “sea-plants (Clements)” (Jackson).

- thalassoplancton,-i (sn.II), abl. sg. thalassoplancto: oceanic plankton.

Thalassodendron ciliatum, a species of sea-grass, a submerged marine flowering plant; Thalassia hemprichii; (mycology) Thalassoascus;

Thalassiomyces; (fungi) “marine fungi; fungi isolated from marine habitats” (S&D).
