A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
Taxon: taxon (s.n.II), gen.sg. taxi, acc.sg. taxon, abl.sg. taxo, nom. & acc. pl. taxa, gen. pl. taxorum, dat. & abl.pl. taxis [“backformation (influence of [the classical word] etymon [-i (s.n.II]) from taxonomy: “a taxonomic group or entity; the name applied to a taxonomic group in a formal system of nomenclature” WIII]; see etymon,-i (s.n.II), ‘the origin of a word’ (Lewis & Short);

- taxa hybridae originis, taxa hybridogena, taxa of hybrid origin.

- taxon novum ad sectionem Sedum pertinens, new taxon belongs to the section Sedum.

 

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
