A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
tabacinus,-a,-um (adj.A): tobacco-colored, pale brown; “a pale brown, like common Kanaster” [= Canaster, an imported [Spanish] variety of tobacco product, imported in baskets [Sp. canastra] (Lindley); see tobacco;

- [fungus] recens ac junius albidum, pallescens: dein e rufo vel ferrugineo fuscum, coloris tabacini fere (S&A), recent [i.e. fresh] and younger [specimens] whitish, pale: ultimately a grayed brown from a red or rusty [sc. color], almost of a tobacco color.

 

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
