supereminens,-entis (part.B): overtopping, rising above, prominent [> L. superemineo,-ere, to overtop, to appear or be above, to rise above (Lewis & Short); cf. superans,-antis (part.B);

- herba paulum supereminens extra aquam, the herb rising a little up beyond the water.

- e filamentis simplicibus incurvatis vix ultra geniculum supereminentibus constans (Agardh), composed of unbranched, incurved filaments scarcely rising beyond the geniculum.

- [algae] Involucrum paulo infra apicem articuli inflati egrediens, et ita geniculum verticillatim cingens e filamentis simplicibus incurvatis vix ultra geniculum supereminentibus constans (Agardh), the involucre coming forth somewhat below the apex of the inflated joints, and thus surrounding the geniculum in the manner of a verticil, composed of filaments, unbranched, incurved, scarcely rising above the geniculum.

- [algae] ramificatio eximie pyramidata, apice producto ramulos laterales supereminente (Agardh), the branching exceptionally pyramidate, with the apex prolonged rising above the lateral branchlets.

- [algae] apice saepe elongato nudo ramulos supereminente (Agardh), with the tip often elongate, naked, rising above the branchlets.

- [Tozzia Alpina] Наnc ipse plantam in Etruria solus reperit, in Alpibus scilicet Archicoenobio Sancta Maria Vallis-Umbrosae supereminentibus, signanter in colle, qui dicitur Hellerema, circa solstitium aestivum floribus ornatam decoratamque collegit (Mich.), he himself found this plant only in Etruria, in the Alps [i.e. high mountains] that is, rising above the Archabbey of Saint Mary of Vallis-Umbrosa; expressly on the hill, which is called ‘Hellerema,’ he collected it around the summer solstice adorned and graced with flowers.
