Summer: aestas,-atis (s.f.III), abl. sg. aestate; solstitium,-ii (s.n.II), abl. sg. solstitio: "the time when the sun seems to stand still, either in Cancer or in Capricorn, the (summer or winter) solstice, the summer solstice, the longest day of the year; the summer time, the heat of summer;" see midsummer, see solstitium,-ii (s.n.II); opp. bruma,-ae (s.f.I), q.v.; opp. winter, q.v.;

- fertilis vere et aestate, fertile in spring and summer.

- fungi aestate exolescentes, fungi attaining full size in summer.

- aestate ineunte, at beginning of summer.

- solstitium aesivum (adj.A), abl. sg. solstitio aestivo, the summer solstice, midsummer, the longest day of the year.
Summer annual (plant), spring-germinating, dying by autumn; planta,-ae (s.f.I) annua (adj.A), planta aestivalis (adj.B) or aestiva (adj.A); see winter annual;

- inter plantas annuas aestivales, among summer annual plants

- planta aetate annua, plant in summer annual

NOTE: see aestatisilvae,-arum (pl.f.I), abl. pl. aestatisilvis, deciduous forests, that is, that lose their foliage in winter and are leafed out in summer.
