striatus,-a,-um (part.A): striate, streaked, with fine, parallel, longitudinal, linear markings or striae; marked with fine channels or lines (striae); “striped” (Stearn 1996); (in bryology) “marked with fine ridges or lines (striae)” (Magilll 1990); markings less pronounced than sulcate, q.v., which is strongly plicate; striate is weakly plicate, q.v.; of the external features of the pollen wall, “pollen grain provided with a regular pattern of approximately parallel lumina [spaces between muri] and muri [ridges separating lumina in reticulate pollen] ; e.g., Menyanthes (Radford et al, 1974) [> L. strio,-atum, 1. to furnish with furrows or channels; to hollow out, groove, flute, striate; (of the face) wrinkled (Lewis & Short)]; cf. vermicularis,-e (adj. B); cf. striped; see nerved

- achenia compressa v. subglobosa, laevia v. varie striata, costata, rugosa v. echinata (B&H), achenes compressed or subglobose, smooth or variously striate, costate, rugose or spiny.

- acheniis transverse rugoso-striatis, with the achenes transversely rugose-striate.

- achenia sa;pe leviter striata, achenes often lightly striate.

- capsula linearis, dura, 10-striata (B&H), capsule linear, hard, 10-striate (ornamented with 10 lines).

- alis plicato-striatis, with the wings folded-striate.

- calyx tenuiter et aequaliter multistriatus (nervis ad quodque sepalum 7, 9, v. 11) (B&H), the calyx thinly and equally multistriate (with nerves at each sepal 7, 9 or 11).

- calyce nec 10-nervio nec parallele oo-striato (B&H), with the calyx neither 10-nerved nor in a parallel manner [indeterminate]-striate.

- folia coriacea, nitida, creberrime striato-penninervia (B&H), leaves leathery, shining, very closely striate-feathery-nerved.

Helliconia aureo-striata: 'more or less feathered or splashed along midrib with bright yellow and striped transversely following veins with same' (Bailey 1938); Linum striatum "furrowed; from the striate-angled stem" (Fernald 1950).

exstriatus,-a,-um (adj.A): without or lacking striae.

undulato-striatus,-a,-um (adj.A): having wavy elevated lines; see striped; see sculptus,-a,-um (part.A), grooved, scratched;

- pileus striatus, cristis atro-griseis, sulcis bubalinis, pileus striate, with the crests dark gray, with the furrows buff.
