A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
palmately, in the manner of a palm leaf, digitate, q.v.; in the manner of an open hand; palmatim (adv.) = digitatim (adv.), q.v.; cf. pedatim (adv.);

- folia alterna , petiolata , simplicia aut palmatim composita (DeCandolle), leaves alternate, petiolate, undivided or palmately compound.

- foliis radicalibas petiolatis palmatim pedatimve in lobos lineares integros partitis (DeCandolle), basal leaves with petioles, palmately or pedately parted into linear, entire lobes.

- folia decidua basi tenus palmatim divisa (F. Mueller), leaves deciduous, divided palmately as far as the base.

- lobis interioribus exteriores aequantibus inferne rubris superne palmatim setoso-multifidis (F. Mueller), with the inner lobes equal to the outer, red below, above palmately bristle-multifid.

- lobis interioribus albidis palmatim 5-7-partitis laciniis plumoso-fimbriatis (F. Mueller), with the inner lobes whitish, palmately 5-7-parted, with the [resulting] lacinia plumose-fimbriate.

- bracteis palmatim lobulatis, with bracts palmately lobulate.

- folia palmatim composita, leaves palmately compound.

- folia palmatim ternatae vel quinatae vel septenatae, leaves palmately in threes, in fives or sevens (i.e. palmately 3-, or 5- or 7-foliolate).

- folia radicalia v. alterna integra v. palmatim subpinnatimve dissecta (B&H), basal leaves either alternate, entire, or palmately or subpinnately dissected.

- folia caulina alterna, palmatim lobata v. dissecta (B&H), stem leaves alternate, palmately lobed or dissected.

- folia alterna, subternatim palmatimve lobata v. dissecta (B&H),.leaves alternate, somewhat ternate [i.e. arranged in threes] or palmately lobed or dissected.

- folia radicalia v. alterna (in Clematideis opposita), integra v. palmatim subpinnatimve dissecta (B&H), leaves basal or alternate (in Clematideae opposite), entire or palmately or subpinnately dissected.
