A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
nuper (adv.), compar. nuperius (adv.), superl. nuperrime (adv.): recently, not long ago, lately, in modern times;

- odor graminum nuper sectorum, odor of grasses recently cut.

- [Margotia] genus dicavi clar. Henr. Margot Genevensi, qui nuper Zacynthium perlustravit, ibi genus curiosissimum Umbelliferarum (Heteroptera) detexit, floramque hujus insulae cum Cl. Reuter edidit (Boissier), I have dedicated the genus to the eminent Henry Margot of Geneva, who, not long ago, most thoroughly studied Zacynthium, at that time he discovered a most curious genus of the Umbelliferae (Heteroptera), and he published the flora of this island with the well known Reuter.

- species ad 6 0 a Sonderò nuper enumeratae, sed nostro sensu verisimiliter reducendae (B&H), species to 60 by Sonder recently estimated, but probably should be reduced.

- species 6, 5 Madagascarienses, una (S. globulifera, Linn. f.) in America tropica late dispersa, etiam in Africa tropica nuper reperta (B&H), species 6, 5 of Madagascar, one (S. globulifera, Linn. f.) in tropical America widely dispersed, also discovered recently in tropical Africa.

- nuper rectius a Kochio Coronillae adscriptae (B&H), recently more properly ascribed by Koch to Coronilla.

- species perpaucas petalis dentatis v. laciniatis includentes pro generibus distinctis nuper (Willk. Ic. Pl. Eur. Occid. i. 78) vindicatae, melius inter Eusilenes militantur (B&H), the species, including a very few with petals dentate or laciniate recently justified for distinct [i.e. separate] genera (Willk. Ic. Pl. Eur. Occid. i. 78), are better served among the Eusilenes.

- [moss] nuperius nisi sterile a cl. Hampe inventum est (C. Mueller), until more recently it had been discovered sterile by the eminent Hampe.

- Connaraceis a Planchonio olim adjuncta (a quibus differt ovulis non orthotropis), et nuperrime (Linnaea, xxiii. 4 4 2 ) Surianae floribus comparata; an melius cum Rosaceis adsociata ? (B&H), once connected by Planchon to the Connaraceae (from which it differs by the ovules not orthotropous), and most recently (Linnaea, xxiii. 4 4 2 ) compared with the flowers of Suriana; perhaps it is better united with the Rosaceae?).

- species 1 v. 2, Abyssiniae et Africae australis incolae, et tertia in Peninsula Indiae orientale nuperrime detecta (B&H), species 1 or 2, an inhabitant of Abyssinia and Africa, and a third in the Peninsula of eastern India most recently discovered.

- DICHDAKTHEBA, Mart., ab auctore nuperrime inter Polygaleas juxta Moutabeam collocatur (B&H), by an author most recently placed among the Polygaleae near Moutabea.

- Thuidium elodioides nuperrime in Ohione a C. Purpus detectum, Thuidium elodioides very recently detected by C. Purpus.in Ohio.

nuper ... nunc formerly [i.e. until recently] ... now ...; once ... now ;

- species nuper in Pottiaceis nunc in Dicranaceis, species once in the Pottiaceae, now in the Dicranaceae.
