lycotropal, lycotropous:, “an orthotropal ovule curved downwards like a horse-shoe” (Lindley); when an otherwise orthotropous ovule is bent like a horse-shoe (Jackson): lycotropicus,-a,-um (adj.A), lycotropus,-a,-um (adj.A) [> Gk. lykos, a door-knocker + trope, a twining, turning]; cf. campylotropous; see horseshoe-shaped; see amphitropous, anatropous, orthotropous; see -tropic, -tropous, -tropal.
