illustris,-e (adj.B), compar. illustrior,-ius (adj.B); superl. illustrissimus,-a,-um (adj.A): “celebrated” (Stearn); “clear, bright,lustrous, lighted up; distinct, evident, clear, plain [syn. clarus]; respectable, famous, honorable, eminent, illustrious, distinguished; in association with people’s names or their publications, abbreviated ‘ill.;’ cf. eximius,-a,-um (adj.A);

- South Port, Tasmaniae. Stuart. Alibique in terra Van Diemen ex ill. J. Hooker (Muell.), South Port, of Tasmania. Stuart. And elsewhere in Van Diemen territory according to the celebrated J. Hooker.
