gamophyllus,-a,-um (adj.A): gamophyllous, “signifies leaves united by the edges “ (Lindley; Jackson);“composed of coalescent leaves or leaf-like organs” (Fernald 1950);

- capitula 1-flora, 'glomerata, involucro proprio gamophyllo cylindraceo (B&H), the capitula one-flowered, disposed in glomes [i.e. heads], the characteristic involucre gamophyllous [i.e. with the leaves united], cylindric.

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
