fulciens,-entis (part.B): supporting, propping up, upholding; “supporting or propping up anything; said of one organ which is placed beneath another” (Lindley) [> L. fulcio, fulsi, fultum 3, to support, keep upright, prop up, uphold + abl. of means; to strengthen, fortify (the body); to strengthen, sustain, support]; see ‘supporting;’

fulcitur: third-person singular present passive indicative: [he/she] it is supported; is sustained;

- [moss] Caput II. De partibus illis muscorum quibus planta fulcitur et nutritur (Hedw.), Chapter II. On those parts of mosses by which the plant is sustained and nourished.

- setae longae capsulas fulcientes, long setae cellulis tenacibus upholding the capsules by tenacious cells.

- capsulae setis longis fulcientes.

- membrana basilari peristomii dentes longissimi fulciente, with a basal membrane supporting the teeth of a very long peristome.
