-enteron, -entery: in Gk. comp,. in medicine, -enterium,-ii (s.n.II), abl. sg. -enterio [> Gk. enteron (s.n.II),-i (s.n.II), abl.sg. entero, nom.&acc. pl. entera, gen.pl. enterorum, dat. & abl.pl. enteris: “piece of the guts or intestines; often in the pl. entera: guts, bowels” (Liddell & Scott)]; adj. see -enteric; see intestines; see mesentery;

- mesenterion,-ii (s.n.II) q.v., abl. sg. mesenterio, the mesentery or mesenteron; see mesentery.

- archenterium,-ii (s.n.II), abl. sg. archenterio, the archenteron.

Boletus chrysenteron, an edible fungus with a golden network of pore-tubes; apparently the epithet is a noun in apposition.
