Crow (bird), a kind of black bird; “presently, a crow is a bird of the genus Corvus, or more broadly [an English] synonym for all of Corvus. The term "crow" is used as part of the common name of many species.” (Wikipedia “Crow” Sept. 2019); see raven; see bird;

Classically:

Crow:

Cornicula,-ae (s.f.I): a little crow (Lewis & Short); a crow (Glare) [> dim. L. cornix,-icis (s.f.III), abl.sg. cornice: ‘a crow’ + -ula, dim.].

Cornix,-icis (s.f.III), q.v., abl.sg. cornice: “a crow (or related bird)” (Glare).

Corone (s.f.I), gen.sg. corones, q.v. = Gk. korOnE (s.f.I): a crow.

Raven:

Corax,-acis (s.m.III), q.v., abl.sg. corace = Gk. korax: a raven; syn. corvus,-i (s.m.II), q.v.

Corvus,-i (s.m.II), q.v., abl. sg. corvo: classical = a raven; syn. corax,-acis (s.m.III), abl.sg. corace = Gk. korax, a raven;

NOTE: at present, a crow is “any of various large usually entirely glossy black birds of Corvus and related genera” (WIII);

Crow family: Corvidae.

Linnaeus, Systema Naturae

Corvus corax: Raven. Corvus corone: Carrion crow.

Corvus cornix: Hooded crow. Corvus frugilegus: Rook.
