- creber procellis Africus, the African wind thick with storms.

- planta etiam fructifera pilis crebris erectis rigidis (DeCandolle), even the fruit-bearing plant with close-set [i.e. pressed together] erect, rigid hairs.

- squamis petiolorum cum ciliis marginalibus crebrioribus, 40 - 60, with the scales of the petioles with more numerous marginal cilia, 40-60.

- ovula crebra (10-20), the ovules numerous (10-20).

- crebriflorus,-a,-um, closely flowered; crebrifolius, closely leaved; crebrilamellatus, with dense lamellae.

- petalis glandulis sat crebris indutis, with petals clothed with moderately numerous glandules.

- ramis creberrimis primum horizontalibus dein descendentibus (B&H), with very numerous branches at first horizontal then descending.

- foliolorum venis secundariis creberrimis 5 vel 6 (non minus quam 3) per cm, with the secondary veins of the leaflets very numerous 5 or 6 (not less than 3) per cm.

- in radicibus caulibusque Brassicae siccis crebra ac gregaria provenit (S&A), it appears on the roots and dried stems of Brassica thick and gregarious [i.e. clustered or colonial].

- [fungus] non tantum hyemalis est et cellaris; sed et aestivalis sub dio in radicibus caulibusque Brassicae siccis crebra ac gregaria provenit (S&A), not only is it associated with winter and with cellars; but it appears also with summer under the open sky dense and colonial [i.e. clustered] on dried roots and stems of Brassica.

- [fungus] nascuntur varr. omnes tres in sylvaticis umbrosis frondosis, nec acerosis, mixtae, crebrae aestate finiente et Autumno (S&A), all three varieties grow mixed in shaded, (broad-)leaved wooded [sc. places], not needle-leaved [i.e. coniferous places], frequent at the conclusion of summer and in the Autumn.

- [moss] sane in illis regionibus, campi depressi marique propiores tractus muscos nullos educare possunt, at in locis editioribus, quae frigidiore coelo crebrioribusque imbribus fruantur successu haud infelici quaerentur (Brid.), obviously in those regions, low plains and tracts [of land] nearer to the sea, are able to bring forth no mosses [i.e. are not capable of supporting any mosses], but in higher situations, which enjoy a colder climate and more frequent rains, they will have achieved a not unhappy success.
