corniculatus,-a,-um (part.A); corniculated, “furnished with a little horn or horns” (Jackson); “furnished with little horns” (Paxton); see cornet-shaped; see corniculum,-i (s.n.II);

1. in the form of a horn, horned; crescent-shaped (Glare); see crescent-shaped; see horn-shaped;

- luna corniculata, the new ‘horned’ crescent moon (Lewis & Short).

- [Pinguicula] nectarium corniculatum, e basi petali postice productum (Linn.), the nectary corniculate, prolonged postically from the base of the petal.

- [Utricularia] nectarium corniculatum, e basi petali productum (Linn.), the nectary corniculate, prolonged from the base of the petal.

- [Medeola] Germina tria, corniculata, in stylos desinentia (Linn.), ovaries three, corniculate, ending in the styles.

- [Aquilegia] nectaria quinque, aequalia, cum petalis alterna: singulum corniculatum (Linn.), nectaries five, equal [in shape, uniform], alternate with the petals; individual ones corniculate.

Ehrenbergii, horned [i.e. ornamented with little horns].

NOTE: calcaratus,-a,-um (adj.A), q.v., ‘spurred;’ nearly synonymous by some authors (DeCandolle) with corniculatus,-a,-um (adj.A), ‘horned.’

- Aquilegia corniculata: flore pleno, petalis calcaratis, calcaribus deorsum productis (DeCandolle), Aquilegia corniculata, with the flower double, with the petals spurred, with the spurs elongated on the back.

corniculate-pinnate paraphysis of Bresadola: see acanthophysis; (fungi) “(of paraphyses), having small hornlike or bristly projections, more or less like a bottle brush; see ‘acanthophysis’ (S&D).

Semen,-inis (s.n.III) corniculatum (adj.A), abl. sg. semine corniculato: “the receptacle of certain Fungals” (Lindley).
