A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
comans,-antis (adj.B): hairy; of a helmet, crested; of trees, covered with leaves.
-comans,-antis (part.B), -comatus,-a,-um (part.A), in L. comp. only: -haired,-tufted [> L. como, -atum, 1., to be provided with hair; having long hair, hairy, covered with hair; having growths resembling hair, hairy; of leaves, luxuriant; to clothe with hair; leafy]; same meanings as -comus,-a,-um (adj.A), q.v.;

- albicomans,albicomatus, with white tufts of hair, white locks; auricomans,-auricomatus, with golden hairs, a golden coma or foliage, golden-leaved (as in tree crowns); flammicomans, flammicomatus, having fiery hair, flaming; flavicomus, with yellow foliage; holocomus, with complete hairs or leaves or foliage.

Brachiaria albicoma, Clematis albicoma “white-locked” (Fernald 1950).
