A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
clockwise: secundus horologii motum [following (secundus,-a,-um, part.A) the motion (motus,-us, s.m.IV) of a clock], helicte (adv.), sinistrorsum [adv.] extus [adv.] vis. see dextrorsum (adv.), to the right; see sinistrorsum (adv.), to the left; see twining.

anti-clockwise, counter-clockwise: contra [prep. with acc.] horologii motum, antihelicte, dextrorsum extus vis; see twining.

NOTE: antihelicte (adv.): anti-clockwise, in a direction passing from left to right, dextrorse (in the sense of Eichler, A. Gray, etc.), sinistrorse (in the sense of de Candolle, etc.) (Stearn).

NOTE: helicte (adv.): clockwise, in a direction passing from right to left when seen from the outside, sinistrorse (in the sense of Eichler, A. Gray, etc.), dextrorse (in the sense of de Candolle, etc.)' (Stearn).
