A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
citreus,-a,-um (adj.A): belonging to the citrus (citron) tree; = Gk. kitreos,-a,-ov (adj.) = kitrinos, “borrowed from Lat. Citreus,-a,-um (adj.A)” (Liddell & Scott);

- malus citrea, the citrus-tree; malum citreum, the citrus fruit, citrus-apple.

- odore citreo, with a citrus odor.

- scobis citreus, abl. sg. scobe citrea: grated lemon-peel, citrus gratings.

- nunc frutex altior, nunc arbor minor v. mediocris, odore forti citreo valde insignis (F. Mueller), sometimes the shrub is taller, sometimes smaller or medium-sized, clearly distinguished by the strong citrous odor.
