A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
carunculate, bearing caruncles, having a caruncle;

- semina in loculis solitaria, pendula, saepe basi carunculato-arillata, interdum pilosa aut comosa (DeCandolle), the seeds solitary in the locules, pendulous, often at the base carunculate-arillate, sometimes hairy or tufted.

- semina squalide fusca ovato-globosa, nec distincte arillata, nee carunculata (F. Mueller), the seeds dirtily fuscous [i.e. brownish-black], neither distinctly arillate, nor carunculate.

- seminibus oblongo-ellipsoideis carunculatis (F. Mueller), with the seeds oblong-ellipsoid, carunculate.

- ovula 2, collateralia, funiculis carunculatis (B&H), ovules 2, collateral [i.e. side by side], with the funiculus carunculate.

- semina obovato-lenticularia, testa laevi crustácea, hilo basilari carunculato, albumine carnoso (B&H), seeds ovate-lenticular [i.e. lens-shaped], with the seedcoat smooth, crusted; with the hilum basilar, carunculate, with the albumen fleshy.

- seminibus (immaturis?) globoso-ovatis compressiusculis carunculatis.(DeCandolle), with the seeds (perhaps immature?) globose-ovate, somewhat compressed, carunculate.

- [Polygaleae] semina in loculis solitaria, pendula, saepe basi carunculato-arillata, interdum pilosa aut comosa (DeCandolle), the seeds in locules solitary, pendulous, often at the base carunculately arillate, sometimes pilose or comose.

- [Polygala] semina pubescentia, hilo carunculata, coma destituta (DeCandolle), the seeds pubescent, carunculate at the hilum, lacking a coma.
