A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
butyric (Eng.adj.), relating to or producing butyric acid (butyric fermentation): butyricus,-a,-um (adj.A) [> L. butyrum,-i (s.n.II), q.v., butter].

Butyric (Eng.noun), “a microorganism that engages in butyric fermentation” (WIII).

Butyric acid: acidum,-i (s.n.II) butyricum, abl.sg. acido butyrico.

Butyric fermentation: fermentation,-onis (s.f.III) butyrica, abl.sg. fermantatione butyrica.

(bacterium] Clostridium [‘small spindle’] tyrobutyricum [> Gk. tyros (s.m.II), cheese + butyrum, butter]: butyric acid-producing organism from cheese, the spores occur in raw milk during cheese production. Infected cheese is spoiled.
