Bursicle, bursicule, “a pouch-like receptacle” (Fernald 1950); in a pollinium, the flap- or pouch-like extension or expansion from the stigma into which the caudicle of some Orchids is inserted: bursicula,-ae (s.f.I), abl. sg. bursicula, nom. pl. bursiculae, acc. pl. bursiculas, dat. & abl.pl. bursiculis [dim. of > LL bursa,-ae (s.f.I), q.v., hence, 'a small purse.']; see pollinium.
