A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
bracteolate: bracteolatus,-a,-um (adj.A);

- pedicelli medio 2-bracteolati, pedicels in the middle with two bracteoles.

- bracteolatae sub flore (sepala, Auct.) 3, orbiculatae, valde imbricatae, persistentes, 3-bracteolate below the flower (the sepals of Authors)orbiculate, strongly imbricate, persistent.

- pedicellis saepius medio bibracteolatis (B&H), with the pedicels more often bibracteolate in the middle.

- flores laterales 2-6-bracteolati (B&H), lateral flowers 2-6-bracteolate.

- flores parvi, ad apicem rhachidis subsimplicis bracteolati solitarii (B&H), flowers small, with bracteoles at the apex of the somewhat simple rhachis, solitary.

- pedunculi axillares, 1-flori, 2-bracteolati (B&H), peduncles axillary, 1-flowered, with 2 bracteoles.

- pedicellis supra basin articulatis 2-bracteolatis (B&H), pedicels above the bse with joints 2-bracteolate.

- pedunculi partiales 1-3-flori, bractea laterali suffulti, supra basin una cum pedicellis bracteolati, bracteolis saepissime glanduliferis v. ad glandulam reductis (B&H), secondary peduncle 1-3-flowered, subtended by a lateral bract, above the base bracteolate together with the pedicels, the bracteoles most often bearing glandules or reduced to a glandule.

- pedicelli basi articulati, minute bracteati et 2-bracteolati (B&H),.pedicels at the base jointed, minutely bracteate and with two bracteoles.

NOTE: ebracteolate: ebracteolatus,-a,-um (adj.A), without bracteoles;

- pedunculi basi bracteati et infra v. supra medium (nec apice) bracteolati, cum pedicellis longioribus ebracteolatis articulati (B&H), peduncles at the base with bracts and below and above the middle (not at the apex) bracteolate, jointed, with the longer pedicels lacking bracteoles.

- pedunculi in axillis stipularum solitarii, 1-flori, ebracteolati (B&H), peduncles solitary in the axils of the stipules, 1-flowered, lacking bracteoles.

- genus a Pultenaea paullulum differt calyce regulari ebracteolato (B&H), the genus a little from Pultenaea by the calyx regular, lacking bracteoles.

“Basi bracteolatum” = involucrum basi bracteolatum [‘basi’ = abl. sg.], i.e. an involucre bracteolate at the base: “a term applied chiefly to the involucre of a Composite, when it is surrounded at the base by a distinct order of bracts” (Lindley).
