A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
Umbellula,-ae (s.f.I), abl.sg. umbellula, nom. pl. umbellula, acc. pl. umbellulas, dat. & abl. pl. umbellulis: umbellule, umbellette; “a partial umbel; an umbel formed at the end of one of the rays of a general umbel” (Lindley); “an ultimate umbel in a compound one” (Jackson); an umbellule or umbellet, a partial or secondary umbel, the ultimate umbel in a compound umbel; an umbellet or umbellule; 'one of the small umbels collectively composing a compound umbel' (Gleason 1952) )[> L., dim. of umbella,-ae (s.f.I); see umbel (Eng.noun)]; Umbellete (Eng.noun): “a small umbel or a simple one” (Jackson).

- involucro generali oligophyllo, partiali subunilaterali pleiophyllo umbellulae aequilongo, utriusque foliolis lanceolato-linearibus acuminatis (F. Mueller), with the general involucre few-leaved, secondary involucre nearly unilateral [i.e. one-sided], many-leaved, equal in length to the umbellule, with the leaflets of both [of either of the two] lanceolate-linear, acuminate.

- flores in formam umbellulae congesti, ramulis a centro patulis, aequaiibus, dichotomis, pedicellati, conferti; pedicellis unifloris (Swartz), the flowers congested into the form of an umbellule, with the branchlets half open [i.e. somewhat spreading] from the center, equal [i.e. in length], dichotomous, pedicellate, crowded; with the pedicells one-flowered.
