Patria,-ae (s.f.I), abl.sg. patria: native land, homeland; solum,-i (s.n.II) natale, abl. sg. solo natali, habitat, birth place; locum natale (adj.B), locum patrium (adj.A), habitat, birth place, paternal soil; habitatio,-onis (s.f.III), q.v., is also used in similar fashion;

- patria ignota, native land unknown, i.e. where a specimen was collected, unknown.

- genus bracteis capsula habitu et patria ab Anacampserote distinctum. (B&H), the genus is distinct from Anacapseros by the bracts, capsule, habit and homeland.

- Nullum discrimen video inter specimina duarum varietatum, sed has disjungo ob patrias diversas (DeCandolle), I see no distinction between specimens of the two species but I divide them due to their different birthplaces.

- genus ob embryonem ignotum et siliquam immaturam dubium, sed ex habitu, patria, characteribusque floris et ovarii manifeste Smelkowskiae et Hutchinsiae proxime affine. (B&H), a genus due to the unexamined embryo and due to the immature siliqua, doubtful, but from the habit, native land and characteristics of the flower and ovary clearly most closely related to Smelkowskia and Hutchinsia.
