Obscuritas,-atis (s.f.III), abl. sg. obscuritate: darkness, obscurity, a being dark; (of light) dimness; (of things of the mind) uncertainty, difficult to know for certain; cf. doubt; obscurum,-i (s.n.II), abl.sg. obscuro: dim light, twilight; but commonly the dark, darkness, obscurity; cf. tenebra,-ae (s.f.I), q.v., darkness; the darkness of night, night itself,‘stronger than obscuritas and weaker than caligo’ (Lewis & Short); see darkness; see cloudiness;

Obscurity (Eng.noun): a state of being unknown or inconspicuous; of being difficult to understand; a thing that is unclear, indistinct, difficult to understand or see.
