The late Dr. William P. Lowry (1927-1998) was Professor of biometeorology and climatology, author, consulting meteorologist, and recipient of the American Meteorological Society’s 1998 Award for Outstanding Achievement in Biometeorology.

Dr. Porter P. Lowry II is Curator and Head of the Africa & Madagascar Department at the Missouri Botanical Garden, and Research Associate at the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle in Paris, France. Dr. Lowry specializes in tropical plant systematics, the flora and vegetation of Madagascar and New Caledonia, and the application of botanical information to biodiversity conservation.
