SEASON'S PICK: Burmeistera quercifolia Gómez-Laur. & L. D. Gómez (Campanulaceae), suspect nomenclaturally but in very good standing taxonomically, is our main feature, along with several other spp. of Burmeistera, a genus which seems to love cloud forest and is profusely flowering this time of year. This season's featured species was the main goal of a recent (successful) trip to Parque Nacional Juan Castro Blanco, by new INBio volunteer Claire Cerling and colleagues Barry Hammel, Isabel Pérez, and Daniel Solano, who is collaborating with Manual contributor José González to produce our Campanulaceae treatment. Daniel reports that he has approximately 13 Burmeistera names to account for. Below, photos of four species.
