The Cutting Edge

Volume VIII, Number 4, October 2001

News and Notes | Recent Treatments | Leaps and Bounds | Germane Literature | Season's Pick

WADING IN THE WATER. Universidad de Costa Rica professor, Cyperaceae specialist, and Manual contributor Jorge Gómez-Laurito visited the Los Chiles region of the northern Atlantic coastal plain during September, in the company of his Aquatic Plants course. This area has already yielded numerous significant country records, including many aquatic or semi-aquatic spp., yet remains poorly known botanically. Jorge has only just begun working up his collections, but several plant spp. new to the Costa Rican flora have already been identified (see Cabombaceae, Cyperaceae, and Nymphaeaceae, under Leaps and Bounds).
