Photographer: Nick Turland

Plants of northwestern Yunnan: Primula amethystina (Primulaceae)

Location: Tian Chi
Finally we reached Tian Chi (Sky Pond), which was surrounded by grasslands, marsh, Rhododendron scrub, and devastated coniferous forest in which the trees had been killed by the Asian gypsy moth. This small Primula was in the grassland. The small, yellow flowers behind it belong to Lloydia oxycarpa (see next photo).
