Field: Traveling to the field station

Getting to the field station is not easy. After 5 hours in a land rover, one must then carry all their goods 1km to a boat and then travel 3 hours upriver. The remoteness of this site makes is perfect for the gorilla project as well as for plant exploration. Prior to November 2001, this area had never been explored by botanists. Already, we have several potential new species from plant collections in this area.
