Our web site is under constant improvement. In the near future, we hope to begin adding links to more images and data. The first module consists of a checklist of the species of vascular plants of Missouri. This is updated regularly and can be searched by family, genus, species, and common name. The search engine is hierarchical, so that if a family name is searched for, the site displays a list of all Missouri genera and allows the user to further select from these.

The search engine also accomodates character strings that are not whole words. for example, searching on families with "canth" in them results in a list of Acanthaceae and Calycanthaceae. Similarly, the common names search results in all species containing a particular character string. For example, searching on "aster" results in a list containing not only all of the asters, but also the species with "eastern" in the common name, as the character string "aster" is embedded within that word.
