Dillenia triquetra (Rottb.) Gilg
|
|
The revision of Dillenia
(Dilleniaceae) by Hoogland (1952) recognizes a basic division
within the genus on the basis of the presence/absence of an
amplexicaul petiolar wing. Both D. triquetra, present in
Madagascar and Sri Lanka, and D. ferruginea, endemic to the
Seychelles, possess the winged petiole. Shared distribution of
D. triquetra between Madagascar and Sri Lanka implies a more
recent dispersal.
